  The studio walls are covered with Styrofoam that has been hand carved, painted a sand stone color and weathered with black paint. The reliefs were crafted with a Dremel drill fitted with a circular wire brush attachment. Each of the hieroglyphs were first sketched out on the foam and then carved with a basic soldering iron.

To achieve a weathered stone look, the Styrofoam is painted a sandstone color and then sponged down with black paint

The mural on the closet blind was drawn by tracing an image that was projected by an overhead projector.

Each point of light is a group of fiber optic strands. The galaxies were painted with UV paint that only appear with black lights.

Start off with a piece of Styrofoam and use a vibrator sander and sand the sheet smooth

Paint the sheet with sandstone colored paint

Final Product

Mark out the bricks and hieroglyphics and carve them with a soldering iron. Apply black paint to the mortar area between the bricks with a paint brush  

 

Using a wet sponge smear the black paint to achieve the weathered look
